Poem: Honesty of Childhood by Mark Tulin

I miss the honesty of childhood.

The way my friends told me

the truth

in words, in play

or in crumpled notes.

I miss friends

who teased me

about my looks,

who said shut up,

blow your nose

and read a book.

Not like the adult world

of smiles, deception

and awkward stares.

Never saying what’s true,

never expressing

how they feel.

Seriously! The kids I nanny can be brutally honest. It’s refreshing.

We should never loose that “ kid attitude “ at least not completely.totally relate to this post and feel much better as sometimes honesty is condemned and criticized and so too many people tend to take themselves too seriously.

When we were kids, we seemed to take criticism better. As an adult I find myself to be way too sensitive and defensive. 🙁

The fact that I can talk about it means that I probably am not as sensitive as I think. 😊

Kids have a straightforward way of looking at things and just don’t mind telling you their findings! 🙂

Yes, my friend. Childhood was blessedly authentic. May your inner-child always be. Well expressed! 💫
