Tangled Up in Rhymes

Dylan came to call,
singing a sardonic tune, playing
a mouth harp, moaning sweet words
that descended from a melancholy sky.

I was ready for the man who launched
a hundred marches that invoked
a thousand verses of wisdom twisted
and tangled up in rhymes.

He came down from the mount
with his irreverent twang,
old acoustic tunes
that he once sang in heaven
before he was born again.

Between soulful moments,
he sipped water to wet his aged throat,
stretching his legs under the piano,
wiping his sweaty brow of musical eternity.
