Brad and Leo, by Mark Tulin

I hadn’t seen Leo with Brad in a while. They were inseparable roommates. I wasn’t sure if Brad was Leo’s lover or if they were just friends. After a month, I wondered if Brad moved away or had gotten tired of Leo, who could be quite grumpy. I was concerned that Leo had murdered Brad over a personal disagreement and that after he buried him in the backyard, he acted as if nothing had happened.

Months passed. I knocked on their door, and Brad answered. He was wearing an ankle boot. He said he broke his foot playing table tennis.
