A short-haired black soul
named Sidney
is missing from my body.
Sidney is a chubby soul
in a feline body
who likes to stop at 24-hour convenience stores
for Doritos and Beef Jerky.
Timid at times,
but capable of a good bellowing
or a brouhaha with the local strays
at the pool hall.
Sidney may run if approached
or lunge toward you if your fingers
taste of spiritual fish.
If you spot my disembodied soul
in a drunken stupor, fighting with other lost souls,
wailing out an old Sam and Dave song
or just wandering in search of salvation,
please notify me immediately.
I can be found crouching over a litter pan.
A soulfully finger licking poem Mark, Hopefully a hungry return soon….
Thank you, Ivor. Hope your soul is where you left it. 🐈
Brilliant
Thanks so much. 🙂
Sweet! Could Sidney be a boyfriend for my poor, Bunny? She’s a black kitty in need of love.
Sidney might be too rough for Bunny. 🙂
a great little poem; the specifics give it authenticity; I loved those old Sam & Dave songs
