I am an author, poet, humorist, and short story writer living in Long Beach, California. I write about various topics, from my early childhood in Philadelphia to my years as a family therapist and finally to my soul-searching in California.     the condescending grins was the best part of the poem. Just so well captured Mark. This is such an important share.

    A strong poem highlighting the many difficulties faced by anyone with handicaps.
    I know for sure though that far from all are condescending, many of us would love
    to help and do when it is welcome.

      that’s probably true. i wonder if the perspective of the person in the wheelchair is skewed due to their hardship.

        You are probably right seeing as the person in the wheelchair is in a vulnerable position.
        That said, there are always some who make fun at people with handicaps. Quite sick really
        but that doesn’t make life easier for those who need us
