YouTube Poem: Wheeling Backwards by Mark Tulin

The poem first appeared in Sivana East on 11/17/17.

I am an author, poet, humorist, and short story writer from Palm Springs, California. I write about various topics, from my early childhood in Philadelphia to my years as a family therapist and finally to my soul-searching in California. These are poetic narratives that may have humorous or serious content or both. Either way, I hope my poetry and stories resonate with you.

  1. the condescending grins was the best part of the poem. Just so well captured Mark. This is such an important share.

  2. A strong poem highlighting the many difficulties faced by anyone with handicaps.
I know for sure though that far from all are condescending, many of us would love
to help and do when it is welcome.

    • that’s probably true. i wonder if the perspective of the person in the wheelchair is skewed due to their hardship.

      • You are probably right seeing as the person in the wheelchair is in a vulnerable position.
That said, there are always some who make fun at people with handicaps. Quite sick really
but that doesn’t make life easier for those who need us
