Poem: A Brother, a Companion, a Saint by Mark Tulin

My dog keeps me warm

From cold streets.

When I tremble

He protects me.

When I’m scared

He stays by my side.

When I need love

He licks my face.

My dog pulls me

When I can’t move.

He guides me

When I can’t see.

Cries when I can’t cry.

Gets angry when I’ve given up.

A brother, a companion

A saint.
