Poem: Crow on the Lamppost by Mark Tulin

Crow resting on the lamppost

While there’s still some daylight

Knowing that all too soon

He’ll fly effortlessly low and smooth

Down the winding seaside road

Floating easily into the salty air

Through lush foliage and palm trees

Past beach houses and tourists on bicycles

Over creaky boardwalks and sand dunes

Near little children with buckets and shovels

To the edge of the sea.
