Jesus in Alabaster
By Mark Tulin

Jesus appears from the lush green palms,
a vision in alabaster, a chalky messiah,
delivering a message of transcendence,
speaking in parables, psalms, and beat poetry

This Jesus has a different vibe,
a rad dude from the California coast,
laidback, groovy, and chill,
more open to whatever

He speaks like a surfer man,
preaching about the gnarly waves,
practicing yoga on a Manduka mat,
tying his board on a roof rack

But Jesus maintains his dignity,
despite wearing Birkenstocks and a tie-dye
Jesus meditates with his heart to the sun,
with eyes closed, trying to get his bliss on.

A beautiful way of putting how He would appear in these modern times in this area. I would love to sit at His feet to listen to His preaching. Thank you for the stunning visual.
