The Conspiracy, by Mark Tulin

 
Two friends walked in the park wearing masks, when Roger turned to Murray and said, “It’s a conspiracy.”

“What conspiracy?” asked Murray.

“What’s going on now.”

“You mean the virus?”

“Yes, it’s a ploy.”

“A ploy?”

Roger’s sighed. “You must know, Murray. It’s obvious.”

“No, Roger, I don’t.”

“The Martians want to destroy us—duh!!”

“That’s ridiculous.”

Roger sighed. “I’m surprised at your ignorance, Murray. It’s clear as day. All you have to do is Google The Martian Virus and see for yourself. “

“Gotcha,” said Murray. “How stupid of me.”

Roger had no clue that Murray was a Martian spy.
