CALLA LILIES
written by: Mark Tulin
She paints in a quiet corner
of an artist studio,
destined to dip her brush
into a small tub of water,
and dab it into an array of pastels
onto a small white canvas
and paint Calla lilies
in watercolor
She paints in gentle strokes,
taking her time around curves
like a woman’s figure,
long green stems,
a yellow center,
moon-colored petals
ready to flower
by soft, knowing hands.

I like the poem very much. It has a gentle, soothing feel to it.
Thank you, Liz.

Thank you, Linda
Well done!! Elegant writing. 🖋
After reading your poem I just had to see what the meaning was for Calla Lily and found out the meaning of each color. White innocence, yellow gratitude, pink appreciation and admiration, purple passion. 🌼
Hope, you are such a great word and meaning sleuth!!
Thank you Mark, I gave myself a few pats on my shoulder/back. Your remark made me proud of what I wrote.
You deserve it Hope. People need to visit your site, Bonkers Away, because they’ll learn a heckuva lot. 🙂
