“Please, Mr. Mogul. I'm sure you'll love this comic romance about a plumber who becomes an artist.”

Mr. Mogul puffed on his fat cigar, “I’ll read it if you promise to stop pestering my secretary.”

Shelly left the screenplay with him knowing that he’d probably never touch it.

When she returned next week, he said, “Nice try, kid. But I don't think it's funny enough.”

“Thanks, Mr. Mogul, for taking the time. I won't bother your secretary anymore.”

Later, a dejected Shelly watched a subpar movie that the producer made and said to herself. “I’m not giving up so easy."

They don’t call Hollywood the land of broken dreams for nothing. I hope Shelly can keep hers alive somehow, some way.

I love it. Shelly is a typical person that wants to support “dreams”. I hope she continues to do that in spite of who she works for.
