A DRIFTING HALO
written by: Mark Tulin
The cool of the ocean
and the warmth of the heavens
come together
to form a slow-moving halo
that lingers in the misty atmosphere.
A welcoming celestial sheath
that grazes over the boats below,
and continues its journey
crossing mountaintops
of green and gold.
And when the hot sun appears
in the early afternoon
over a jagged Pacific coast,
the sunlight transforms this drifting halo
into a sky of Rembrandt blue.

Your poem perfectly captures why my daughter in San Diego will never return to the East Coast to live.
I can understand. I’ll take the landslides and wildfires over ice and snow. 🙂
Me, I’ll take the ice and snow. I’m too attached to the land and the seasons here to feel at home living anywhere else.
I do miss the rain, though. Cleans the air. 😎🌞
Fantastic poem! I think this one is my favorite one yet! 🙂
Thank you, Linda.
Beautiful poetry Mark! It was emotional in its beauty.
Thank you, Tara.
Again well done Mark, I shall have to go buy another case of champagne……
Thank you, Ivor.
Mark, five star poem. You got them from me. Congratulations.
Humbled by your complement.
You deserve it 🙂

Beautifully described!
Thanks
We used to live in the SF Bay area, so your description of “a jagged Pacific coast,” with “the sunlight transform[ing] this drifting halo
into a sky of Rembrandt blue” really resonated with me. I have seen that “Rembrandt blue” and been mesmerized by it. Thanks for bringing it back to me!
You’re welc
