Poetry/Humor: Bad Dentist by Mark Tulin

A sadistic dentist and his mangy dental assistant. Photo Alice Kask’s painting: Dog (2008). Curated by Europeana on Unsplash.

Now rinse out
Stand up
Wallet emptied
Six-month follow-up
Insurance card returned
Given a doggy bag
with floss, paste,
& a Greenies treat.

With a pound of soggy gauze
stuffed into bloated cheeks
& still in a delirious haze —
I smiled with missing teeth.
