You are so right about how it feels to see an uprooted tree. Sometimes so much rain falls and a big wind comes and that tree, that held on for so long, just can’t withstand the gust. Roots exposed, the metephors start to grow: ‘uprooted’ we as people feel insecure, unsure, scared even, exposed, helpless. What about genealogy and those ‘family trees’ with discoveries about our ‘roots’ exposed in old news stories, obituaries, death certificates? And that huge underground network of roots, tree to tree in the woods, when one tree is uprooted…that must ‘hurt’ the others? Imagine trees at your funeral for the tree…the stories they would tell, the sadness, then remember, it’s quite possible that a tree may have left some seeds nearby…blown by a gust of wind and watered by a lot of rain. So a sapling takes root and life goes on?
