Poem: Feline Dream by Mark Tulin

Wet autumn leaves blanket the wooden deck

as a feral cat looks through an open window.

He gazes into an empty space,

purrs a gentle feline dream,

wet-noses for a generous gift

or fresh catnip to roll onto

and patiently waits with curled paw

without a blink or a flinch

for a soft human touch

and the sanguine fragrance

of a kind woman.

That strikes a chord at my heart having lost our outside feral cat before we could tempt her inside.
