As a poet,
I try to find what’s true.
I try to speak what’s real,
but I seldom do.
Instead, I get my wires crossed
like two gulls who share
the same utility pole.
It’s not easy
being a sojourner
of truth.
It’s not easy being
a rebel of honesty
when there’s a revolution
of one.
I grab the truth’s slippery essence
with uncertain fingers
and watch it slide
from my grasp
into oblivious waters.
I enjoyed your your poem Mark. Oh, I think we all let those elusive words trickle through our fingers.

“The truth’s slippery essence.” Oh how descriptive this is. And I agree
Johnnie Cash once wrote a very poetic song called What Is Truth? Very appropriate for today. Peace, Mark.
So beautiful….and….I swear no pun intended….true!!! I think about this a lot. Well put. 🙂
Me, too. Truth is beautiful when you find it. 🙂
I’ll make it a revolution of two …
