The poem was written several years ago and the print version is still on this site. I grew up in Philly back in the sixties and seventies. And I had many friends and family members who lived in a similar style of home. This is a tribute to their warm and comfy homes and the proud people of Northeast Philadelphia. Adsolutely wonderful Mark … there I was only 2 years ago visiting my cousins in northeast Philadelpia area(Tackawanna st), … and there mother’s(my aunty) original home was in the ‘Fishtown’ area …. Your beautifully read poem perfectly describe the houses and the friendly people of the area … well done Mark, and I’m forwarding this post onto my cousins…
Thank you, Ivor. I had some clients in Fishtown. An up and coming area.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Philadelphia..
Glad. Good pubs in Fishtown.
Yes, a good old working class area 😀
These houses look so English to me!

You’re welcome, Mark.
Excellent poem, simple but full of soul, or, simply soulful.
Good way of putting it. 🙏🏻
