Jesus Didn’t Drive a Mercedes
I’m sure that Jesus had an old VW
with bald tires and a turn signal
that didn’t blink half the time.
I’m sure that his clunker
drove him where he wanted to go
just as well as a brand new Mercedes.
I don’t think Jesus bragged
about being a deity
or the son of a very important creator.
I don’t think he acted all proud and puffy
when he raised Lazarus from the dead
or turned water into wine.
I think he was a humble man.
Just as human as you or I.
He preferred the simple life—
diner food to expensive cafes.
And probably bought his robe and sandals
at closeout stores or on sale at Macy’s.
Haha, love this one 👍🏻
Thanks, Elaine
this is awesome………
Thanks, wendi
my pleasure!
🙂
Without a doubt, Mark!
🙂🙂
Really awesome!
Thanks, 🙂🙂
Nice one! And Jesus did “take the wheel” be it VW or some other practical auto.
Perhaps he rode a horse?
HaHA! I think the story has it as a donkey. But I was just trying to be clever with that C and W song “Jesus take the wheel..”
I didn’t catch the song reference. But you’re right about the donkey. It must have taken him a while to get to the places where he did his sermons with a donkey. He needed a good horse.
I love this poem! My dad, who was an Episcopal priest, would have loved it!! I wish I could share it with him. The Jesus in your poem is the Jesus he knew.
I would certainly like him, then. 🙏🏻
I love it, Mark; I’m going to hop across and read it again 🙂
Thanks, John
Awesome post, Mark!! I loved it! I’ve made the same kind of point for years only related to protestant Temples!!! Don’t remember Jesus having a Mega-Church!! Bravo, My Friend!!!
That’s so true, Chuck. Jesus never had a mega church or a humongous TV ministry. 🙂
Yeah, nor the beliefs the Mega-churches try to pass off as the “Teachings Of Jesus”! Don’t get me started, My Friend!! There’s going to be a hellava lot of church goers who will be astonished to find themselves in Hell for not taking care of the “Lest Of these”!!! Have a great day!!! Chuck
In total agreement. Much peace, Chuck. 🙂🙂
Well, maybe a VW bus. I mean, he had all those Apostles with him. (I like the poem!)
Thanks, Mitch. An old VW bus would work.
What a relief ffffff to read something like this. Am sure Jesus is relieved too, to read this. You’re so bang on. If He were here today that’s exactly what He’d drive.
thank you. we should all be that humble. 🙂
Amen!
Love this poem, Mark!
Thanks, Tamara.
That could be so if He were to return now! Wouldn’t that just blow the imagination? Thank you for putting forth that vision!
He might of driven a pickup truck since he was a carpenter or a VW van.
Loved this, Mark! Cheers!!! 🙂
Much thanks!!
My pleasure!!! 🙂
