Back from Hollywood, by Mark Tulin
27/12/2019
I hadn’t seen my daughter, Blenda since she moved to Hollywood three years ago.
When she came home for the holiday, boy, had she changed.
I didn’t recognize her. She had a Gucci bag, Prada shoes, and a Pierre Cardin watch. She talked about all the celebrities she had met, the famous people she had made commercials with, and her roles in prime time TV. Not once, did she ask how I was doing.
Despite all her name dropping, I gave my daughter a hug. She had grown up to become a very superficial person, but I love her anyway.

And when her Hollywood dream comes crashing down, her father will be there to pick up the pieces.
If he were smart, he’d let her pick up her own pieces.
True, but not always easy for a parent to do.
Very hard. Takes some boundary making skills.
I remember Hollywood. As a little girl, I practically lived there. It used to seem bigger than life!
Yes. I wish I could have seen old Hollywood with all the icons.
After moving to Los Angeles, my sons have also changed in unexpected ways. Some not so good. They, too, have to live and learn from their experiences.
Very true, Rosaliene. I wish them much peace and happiness. 🙂
Thanks, Mark <3
