The Guru's Meditation, by Mark Tulin
2/8/2019

The venerable Guru Ganja rang the singing bell, and we awoke from a thirty-minute meditation.

“I’m going to speak about compassion,” he said.

He gazed upon the crowd with much understanding and wisdom. And for the next twenty minutes, he discussed how to develop compassion through mindfulness.

Halfway through the lecture, a homeless man stumbled into the room, asking if anyone could spare some change for coffee.

The Guru noticed the mild disturbance and very discreetly motioned a large bald man to remove the homeless person from the premises.

“Now, where were we,” the Guru said with a transcendent half-smile.
