Super Bloom, a Poem by Mark Tulin

My eyes swell from the super bloom:
yellow, gold, and orange wildflowers.

It started from an extended rainfall,
followed by a hot spell.

All the flowers bloomed at once.
Nature rejoiced. The hummingbirds sipped
the nectar of the colorful cocktail.

No more frozen toes and cold hands.
No more bundled-up in flannels and cords.

But paradise comes with a cost.
Nature carries its own disclaimer.

Watery eyes and a stuffy, aching head.
Spring is here, too soon.
