Poem: Sunrise Bloom by Mark Tulin

Night Princess
cradled in her own
form-fitted green cactus bed
while I’m in my Posturepedic
tossing and turning

When I awake
and my drowsy eyes burst open,
you have already bloomed,
embracing the day’s arrival
and a new beginning

You greet me with a yellow smile
as I get into my steely blue car.
You quietly curl back into bed
just as I start another workday.
