Poem: Flew With Angels by Mark Tulin

I put you on a pedestal

while I wore rags

and slept in the park

I thought you flew with angels,

thought your words

flowed like truth

from the heavens

I was duped

into believing,

you tricked me

with your cunning smile

and good intentions

I fooled myself

with hope’s illusion

while my back

was turned.
