I knew I shouldn’t have allowed you
to take me down that dimly lit road
in the middle of the night.
I really wasn’t thinking
for myself, wasn’t looking ahead
to see where our future might lead.
I put my life in your hands, trusted you
with my heart
and hid my true feelings.
I had become a passive observer,
allowing you to have full control,
convinced that in time everything would work out.
It was only when the road became slick and icy,
winding toward the cliff’s edge
did I realize I had made a grave mistake.
By then, it was too late.
My life had spiraled in the wrong direction,
unable to turn back.
