Tuesday’s Picture: The Horn of Compassion

Old frail woman in a wheelchair

Squeezing, humming out notes

Through a long skinny bone

Each vibrating sound awakens us

Calls us to stand and listen

With gratitude, with sympathy

With respect, with courage

For she blows the horn of compassion

For the rich and poor

For the healthy and infirm

With all the air in her fragile lungs

She blows the didgeridoo

For everyone.
