The Bell Tolls For Me

As you hold my hand

and try to comfort me

with your strong fingers

your soothing spirit

you surround me

with ringing bells

I’m dizzy from the climb

I can barely stand up

I want to lie in green grass

float in your heavenly clouds

singing about beauty and eternity

nothing left to do, nowhere to go

the struggle, the ascension is over

my entire life now into the books

I finally know the way

my path is clear and certain

out of the winding maze

to a tiny opening

where the light shines through

to a place only known

as peace.

Freelance writer, poet, yogi and photographer from Santa Barbara, California. I write and take pictures about a variety of topics, from my early childhood in Philadelphia, to my years as a family therapist, and finally to my soul-searching years in California. The things that move me may have a humorous or serious content or both. Either way, I hope my poetry, pictures and stories resonate with you.

Oh! This is perfect! I know if Mom read it it would bring tears like it did me, how beautiful!

  2. Thank you, Irene. They will both be in a peaceful place together.
