I am the warrior

I am the warrior

I hold firm, look straight

arms raised, chest forward

half-smile and in control.

I am the warrior

who settles in

shoulders down, spine extends

I don’t waver or gaze away

I am in it for the long haul

however long I stand

however long I hold.

I am the warrior

peace, not fame nor attention

I demand, belly pulled in

my legs engaged

my feet rooted down .

I am the warrior

this is how I stand

I am the warrior

balanced and bold.

I totally enjoy the articles, but I have to say I enjoy the poetry just as much. It truly reflects how you feel when you’re in your poses.

  2. Theresa, you are right on. Poetry can get to the essence of the pose better than prose. When I wrote that poem, I gained a better awareness of the warrior pose as a result. Thanks!
