In Dreams Begin Nightmares

I recently wrote a first person essay in The Family Therapy Magazine.  It was the hardest piece of writing I have done to this date.  It was difficult because it brought up a lot of childhood memories that I had with my parents.  It was difficult because those memories were unpleasant and painful.  But I needed to voice them; it was my therapy.  Our lives are not just pleasant memories but memories much like nightmares.  They have to be looked at so we understand who we are and how we became who we are.

Here is the link to the June Family Therapy Magazine.  In Dreams Begin Nightmares is on page 84.  (You have to scroll down until you get to page 84.)

Freelance writer, poet, yogi and photographer from Santa Barbara, California. I write and take pictures about a variety of topics, from my early childhood in Philadelphia, to my years as a family therapist, and finally to my soul-searching years in California. The things that move me may have a humorous or serious content or both. Either way, I hope my poetry, pictures and stories resonate with you.
